"Talking "Robot Launched to Space

A small robotic figure, named Kirobo, took a ride on board Konotori 4, an unmanned space cargo transporter, and is expected to reach the ISS on August 9. The Japanese H-IIB Transfer Vehicle, took off at 4:46am local time on Sunday heading for the International Space Station with close to five and a half tons of supplies and equipment. While most robots on the ISS are used for a variety of purposes, Kirobo's mission is to be a companion to Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, part of the crew on-board the International Space Station.
