Astronaut Michael Foale Leaves NASA After 26-Years


After an illustrious 26 year career, Astronaut Michael Foale has retired from NASA.

Over his involvement with NASA's Astronaut contingent, Foale spent 375 days in space during six space shuttle missions and aboard two space stations.

Foale spent 145 days aboard the Russian space station Mir in 1997 and 194 days aboard the International Space Station as commander for expeditions 8 from 10/2003 to 4/2004. 

Foale also performed four spacewalks during his career for a total of 23 hours.
